The Difference Between Hemp Oil and High-CBD Strains

The Difference Between Hemp Oil and High-CBD Strains
BY MIKE ADAMS · TUE OCT 21, 2014
Over the course of the past year, cannabidiol, or CBD oil, has quickly become the rock star of the medical marijuana industry because of its ability to treat a variety of conditions -- including epilepsy -- without exposing patients to intoxicating effects.
However, the cannabinoid is still illegal in most of the United States, which has provided an opportunity for some hemp businesses to market a variation of knockoff CBD treatments that they claim have the same healing power as popular strains such as Charlotte’s Web.
However, after patients began submitting complaints about some of these products, including “Real Scientific Hemp Oil,” claiming they were making them sick, a research firm dedicated to cannabidiol education – called Project CBD – launched a full-blown investigation into the matter. After six months, the organization emerged with a 30-page report entitled “Hemp Oil Hustlers: A Project CBD Special Report on Medical Marijuana Inc., HempMeds and Kannaway,” which began as a curious look into an umbrella penny stock company, but transformed into a dissection of the hemp oil industry and its sometimes shady business practices.
Interestingly, Project CBD found that all three companies featured in the report are operated by the same controlling interest, and shows that Kannaway and HempMeds are both subsidiaries of Medical Marijuana Inc. These companies are infamous for making claims about their legal hemp oils being significant sources for CBD because they are derived from imported hemp paste – implying that legal hemp oils are a suitable alternative to CBD medicine.
Yet, as the report indicates, these products are only technically similar and do not provide the same health benefits as high-CBD cannabis strains. “We believe that industrial hemp is not an optimal source of CBD, but it can be a viable source of CBD if certain hemp cultivators are grown organically in good soil and safe extraction and refinement methods are employed,” wrote the authors of the Project CBD report.
Mike Adams writes for stoners and smut enthusiasts in HIGH TIMES, Playboy’s The Smoking Jacket and Hustler Magazine. You can follow him on Twitter @adamssoup and on Facebook/mikeadams73.

Amanita muscaria Preparation for Beginners
Amanita muscaria Preparation for Beginners
by Clark Heinrich
v1.0 - Nov 23, 2008
Citation: Heinrich C. "Amanita muscaria Preparation for Beginners". Erowid.org. Nov 23 2008; erowid.org/plants/amanitas/amanitas_info8.shtml.
Disclaimer: WHAT FOLLOWS IS NOT AN INDUCEMENT TO CONSUME AMANITA MUSCARIA, WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS.
While some Amanitae will kill you, muscaria will not. You may "die," however, and then come back to life -- Lazarus comes to mind. The way to avoid this is to use only mature, dried specimens and proceed very slowly with consumption. You should have a sitter at least for the first time, as some people (mainly those who eat too much too quickly) enter a sort of netherworld in which they act out. This can be dangerous, as any dissociative experience can be. I have heard a couple stories of people eating a bunch of muscaria and running willy-nilly through the forest with total disregard for their safety (they can also give you amazing strength and endurance for the nonce). Or you may pass out, sometimes over and over again (this has happened to me), and appear to the non-initiated to be in serious medical trouble and near death (or dead)--hence your sitter should be aware of these possibilities, and being strong physically might not hurt either.
That said, it doesn't have to be like that. You might try simmering a few mature dried caps in water for a half hour and then drinking the tea slowly over a period of a couple of hours. When you go slow the mushroom has a way of letting you know when you've had enough or should have more. Another method is to tear off little pieces of dried cap and roll them into little pills; swallow these without chewing, with as little water as possible to get them down (too much water while eating can make some people nauseous, just as chewing can--the "pills" bypass the mouth's release of chewing enzymes). Again, go slowly, eating no more than one cap an hour. Be aware that the full effects sometimes take more than an hour to come on; people have gotten in trouble not knowing this.
One big problem with fly agaric is the inability to know how potent a specimen is, which is one more reason to proceed slowly. There are indicators, though, when one has become familiar with harvesting the mushroom: if the mushroom has dried standing, and/or has lots of veil remnants on the cap, and/or has a thick fuzz of spores on the mostly dried gill side--these are generally stronger. Experience will be your best teacher.
To begin getting familiar with the effects, try carrying a dried cap or two in your pocket as you hike and tear off and suck on pieces as you go. Don't chew it, just move it around until it gets very soft and starts to fall apart; swallow the bits as they come off. Let each piece fall apart in your mouth before putting another one in. You should find yourself getting a spring in your step and a nice boost in endurance and mood as you trip through the forest.
Bon chance.

Matthew Buckley - How Monsanto is Destroying the Brains and Health of Everyone
Dr. Matthew Buckley, PSc.D. entered the health care field largely to understand and resolve his personal struggles with chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia which began late in his teens. His ongoing study of functional medicine, nutrition, nutrigenomics, applied kinesiology, and energetic medicine has provided him with keen insight and understanding into the holistic dynamics of the body and how we lose and maintain our health. He has maintained a busy practice in Austin, Texas for the past 13 years and works with people of all ages interested in maximizing their health, and overcoming the modern scourge of all forms of chronic illness. We’ll discuss how all disease begins in the gut. The gut serves as approximately 70% of the immune system. It plays a significant role in not only our immune function, but also to our mental/emotional status according to a great deal of scientific research. Matthew explains how Monsanto’s product called Roundup contains a chemical called glyphosate, which is disrupting our microbiome. This disruption of our microbiome can result in an overgrowth of pathogenic bacteria, which triggers immune response, and this immune response would then trigger the brains immune cells, the microglia, to become overly active and degrade brain cells. He’ll describe this process, what amplifies it and what health consequences arise from it. Also, we address the issue of eating genetically modified organisms and the damage that arises from consuming them. Matthew talks about the politics of Monsanto and what we can do to stop the madness. Later on, Matthew talks about parasites, the creepy epidemic that is here now.

Study Links GMOs to Over 22 Different Diseases
A new study released in September of this year gives even more evidence that GMOs should have been banned before they were ever allowed on the market. Read on to find out how “Genetically Engineered Crops, Glyphosate and the Deterioration of Health in the United States of America” pinpoints a significant correlation between GMOs and 22 diseases.
Why does the biotech industry keep hiding the toxicity of their products? Well, there are numerous reasons – the corruption of the American and international governments, the fact that the USDA’s main man appointed by Obama was a former Monsanto executive, and the tremendously deep pockets of mega-corporations to launch propaganda campaigns – are just a few.
The aforementioned title was published in The Journal of Organic Systems. It is full of very detailed evidence of the link between genetically modified ingredients and diseases such as liver failure, urinary and bladder cancers, hypertension, thyroid disease, stroke, obesity, and more. It is replete with telling charts and graphs that describe visually the mayhem that GMOs have unleashed on society.
Much of the study focuses on the introduction of glyphosate and its subsequent ramifications on human health. The herbicide was introduced in 1974, but the research conducted within this study relied on data since the 1990s, since that is all that was available. Since the early 90s, glyphosate use has grown astronomically.
As the study details:
“. . .glyphosate disrupts the ability of animals, including humans, to detoxify xenobiotics. This means that exposures to the numerous chemicals in food and the environment, such as endocrine disrupting chemicals and carcinogens, could be causing levels of damage that would not occur if the body were able to detoxify them.”
Though the authors admit that correlation is not proof of causation, they state that:
“. . .we have data for 22 diseases, all with a high degree of correlation and very high significance. It seems highly unlikely that all of these can be random coincidence.”
They also bring attention to the American Academy of Environmental Medicine’s position paper on genetically modified (GM) foods:
“[S]everal animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food consumption including infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes associated with cholesterol synthesis, insulin regulation, cell signaling, and protein formation, and changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system.”
So what did the authors of this study conclude?
There is an obvious and significant correlation between the increased use of glyphosate and genetically engineered crops grown specifically to withstand its use, and a growing multitude of diseases and their frequency. Many of the graphs show a marked increase right around the 1990s when the makers of glyphosate enjoyed a boost in their profits and an enormous swell of herbicide use from products like RoundUp and others containing the same chemicals.
There is no mistaking the data – the large increase in glyphosate use in the US is mostly due to the increase in glyphosate-resistant GE crops – and this has led to more disease.
The researchers state:
“The probabilities in the graphs and tables show that it is highly unlikely that the correlations are a coincidence. The strength of the correlations shows that there is a very strong probability that they are linked somehow. The number of graphs with similar data trends also indicates a strong probability that there is a link. Although correlation does not necessarily mean causation, when correlation coefficients of over 0.95 (with p-value significance levels less than 0.00001) are calculated for a list of diseases that can be directly linked to glyphosate, via its known biological effects, it would be imprudent not to consider causation as a plausible explanation.”
Sure there are many reasons for chronic disease – diet, lack of exercise, exposure to other environmental toxins, and even genetic predisposition among them, but when your body can’t rid itself of a known carcinogen because it is added straight to the food supply in copious amounts – of course you are going to get sick. It doesn’t take 22 charts to figure that out. After all, glyphosate is appearing in people’s urine, blood, and breast milk.
Since glyphosate is also an endocrine disruptor, this would imply that the current permitted residue levels in food could be causing multiple health problems that have been documented in the scientific literature.
The endocrine system is essential to human health. Since it is being attacked by biotech chemicals on a daily basis, the glands in our bodies like the pituitary, thymus, and pineal can’t secrete hormones that keep us fit, healthy, and disease-free.
All of these functions are carried out by the endocrine system:
•Growth and development
•Homeostasis (the internal balance of body systems)
•Metabolism (body energy levels)
•Reproduction
•Response to stimuli (stress and/or injury)
Of course, the body will start to respond with disease-like symptoms when the metabolism, reproductive system, and nervous system are constantly trying to right themselves due to glyphosate exposure.
We are the guinea pigs of biotech – a grand science experiment gone wrong (or right depending on who you talk to and the motives suspected behind biotech technologies).
The researchers urge independent scientific research. They expound:
“The data presented in this paper highlight the need for independent scientific research to be conducted, especially in the areas of the endocrine disruption, cancer precursor, oxidative stress, gut microbiome and the Cytochrome P450 pathways. It is our hope that, in addition to more basic research in the form of toxicology and carcinogenic studies, epidemiology studies will be undertaken by experts in each of these disease categories.”
In my estimation, there is already ample evidence, even with the biotech white-wash and out-right manipulation of universities, non-profits, and scientific journals, that GMOs are dangerous.
So, until we are able to ban all GMO crops completely, add these 10 GMO foods to your GMO foods list so you can more easily avoid them. You can also avoid the eight main GM crops:
•Corn
•Soybeans
•Canola
•Cottonseed
•Sugar Beets
•Most Hawaiian Papaya
•Some Zucchini and Yellow Squash
•Sugar Derived from GMO Sugar Beets
•Dairy is additionally likely to be GMO unless it is labeled No rBGH, rBST, or artificial hormones.

Re: Bees
Millions of bees dropped dead after GMO corn was planted few weeks ago in Ontario, Canada. The local bee keeper, Dave Schuit who produces honey in Elmwood lost about 37 million bees which are about 600 hives.
“Once the corn started to get planted our bees died by the millions,” Schuit said. While many bee keepers blame neonicotinoids, or “neonics.” for colony collapse of bees and many countries in EU have banned neonicotinoid class of pesticides, the US Department of Agriculture fails to ban insecticides known as neonicotinoids, manufactured by Bayer CropScience Inc.
Two of Bayer’s best-selling pesticides, Imidacloprid and Clothianidin, are known to get into pollen and nectar, and can damage beneficial insects such as bees. The marketing of these drugs also coincided with the occurrence of large-scale bee deaths in many European countries and the United States.
Nathan Carey another local farmer says that this spring he noticed that there were not enough bees on his farm and he believes that there is a strong correlation between the disappearance of bees and insecticide use.
In the past, many scientists have struggled to find the exact cause of the massive die-offs, a phenomenon they refer to as “colony collapse disorder” (CCD). In the United States, for seven consecutive years, honeybees are in terminal decline.
US scientists have found 121 different pesticides in samples of bees, wax and pollen, lending credence to the notion that pesticides are a key problem. “We believe that some subtle interactions between nutrition, pesticide exposure and other stressors are converging to kill colonies,” said Jeffery Pettis, of the ARS’s bee research laboratory.
The collapse in the global honeybee population is a major threat to crops. It is estimated that a third of everything we eat depends upon honeybee pollination, which means that bees contribute over 30 billion to the global economy.
A new study published in the Journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences revealed that neonicotinoid pesticides kill honeybees by damaging their immune system and making them unable to fight diseases and bacteria.
After reporting large losses of bees after exposure to Imidacloprid, banned it for use on corn and sunflowers, despite protests by Bayer. In another smart move, France also rejected Bayer’s application for Clothianidin, and other countries, such as Italy, have banned certain neonicotinoids as well.
After record-breaking honeybee deaths in the UK, the European Union has banned multiple pesticides, including neonicotinoid pesticides.
